New to classic scrambling?
Here is the Pre 65 Motocross Club's guide to getting started in the world of classic scrambles.
Ok, I want to race scramblers. What's first?
You'll need to fill out our Club Membership Form, which you can download by using the link under the Useful Information hdeaing on the right.
Done that, what next?
You'll need to send your completed club membership form to the address supplied on the form, along with a cheque for the membership fee and a SAE.
Then...
You will receive your club membership card and an AMCA membership application form signed by a Pre 65 Motocross Club official. At this point you can either fill out the AMCA form, send it off with a cheque for £45 and you'll receive your AMCA race license, which is valid from the beginning of January to the end of December. Alternatively, if you are going to do less than 3 scrambles it would be cheaper to purchase a Day AMCA licence. This can be done by circling "Yes" next to "Do you need a day AMCA licence?" when sending your entry form to the race secretary (more about entryforms below).
Why do I need an AMCA license?
The Pre 65 Motocross Club is affiliated with the AMCA and race meetings are run in-line with AMCA regulations. As part of your AMCA license, you will be provided with insurance. You will not be allowed to race without an AMCA race license, you must have an annual AMCA licence or a day licence.
I've got my Pre 65 Motocross Club membership and AMCA race license. How do I enter for a race meeting?
To enter a race meeting you will need to complete an entry form and send it along with a cheque and SAE to the race meeting secretary.
To do this, download the Generic Entry Form from the Downloads section on the top-right of the
home page.
Then find the set of regs in the same downloads section for the scramble you wish to enter. You will then need to send your completed
entry form, along with an SAE and cheque payable to "Pre-65 Motocross Club Ltd", to the address of the secretary supplied on the regs form.
You will find Entry and AMCA Day Licence prices are on the regs form. If you need an AMCA day licence, please ensure you clearly
indicate this on the entry form, as AMCA day licences cannot be purchased on the day of the scramble - no AMCA licence (whether day or annual), no ride.
The entry form should be sent to the meeting secretary idealy two to four weeks
before the date of the scramble. If the secretary does not receive this form at least 10 days before the date of the meeting, you will
be classed as a late entry and refused entry to that meeting. This rule is strictly enforced.
What do you mean by "Regs"?
"Regs" is the term used to describe the document that contains all the relevant information about a given race meeting,
which includes the date and start times of the event, the secretary's address, Clerk of the Course name, directions to the circuit
and grid reference, entry prices and much more. You keep this document for your records.
Will I receive confirmation from the race meeting secretary indicating they have received my entry form?
Yes. A note will be sent to your address in the week running up to the race meeting, confirming you have been entered for the race meeting.
