Due to the recent dry weather conditions a last minute venue change for the Pre-65 Motocross Club meant the final round of the 2009 summer calendar would be held at Marks Tey in Essex. On the Sunday morning the track was in superb conditions thanks to the fantastic job the track team had done with watering all day Saturday, this allowed the 115 solos and 12 sidecar crews entered to be able to complete the 26 race schedule with very little dust.
In leg one of the Perry Miller Anglian People Carriers Sidecar Championship Michael and Susannah Mead lead the race from start to finish. The main battle was for second, third and fourth places. Machine problems slowed the pairing of Nick Leatherhead and Glen Restrick allowing Charlie and Dan Chivers to take second place. Third place went to Colin Gilder and Graham Eastall with Terry and Allyson Mead following home in fourth place. Alan Lyne and Dave Tye finished a creditable fifth in their first ride ever on the Wasp.
Leg two was another great show from Michael and Susannah Mead with a start to finish win. Second to fifth place was a real tussle with positions over the last lap being exchanged by a number of outfits, at the line in was Charlie and Dan Chivers home in second. Third place went to Leatherhead and Restrick who made a great pass on Lyne and Tye. Fifth this time was Gilder and Eastall with Terry and Allyson Mead rounding out the top six.
Race one of the Pre 60 Percy Tawn Memorial trophy saw a win for Sam Appleton with Richard Talbot in second place, Dave Godley came in third with Steve Kinnard on the BSA Goldstar following home in fourth. Fifth went to Adrian Dickerson on the Greeves Hawkstone.
Race two was a great win for Talbot giving him the overall victory for the day, second place went to Godley on the MABSA giving him third overall. Third place went to Appleton allowing him to take second overall. Fourth Place went to Barry Keymer with series organiser Dave Savill having a brilliant ride to take fifth place.
Leg one of the Brockwell Group National Greeves Championship was won by Greg Radley on the 250cc Challenger, second went to series leader Danny Albins with early Matt Valentine home in third. The holeshot man Ricky Widdowson came in fourth with Richard Talbot making a rare appearance on a Greeves in fifth place. Desmond Burton had his best ride of the season to complete the top six.
Going into the final race of the season only two points separated Radley and Albins so whoever came out on top would be the 2009 series champion. Widdowson grabbed another hole shot, with Albins and Radley in second and third. At the end of lap one Radley had got into the lead and would stay here to the finish, giving him the overall and the championship. Second went to Albins, with Valentine third and Widdowson fourth. This time round Kim Morley was fifth with Talbot home in sixth.
