Words by Matt Valentine 29 April 2010

On Sunday the Northampton Classic Club held there first meeting of the season at Sproxton. Along with the usual Pre-60, Pre-65, Pre-74 and Sidecars races the Northampton Classic Club also played host to Round One of the Brockwell Group National Greeves Championship.

The track was in superb condition thanks to the fantastic job Andy Nourish and the Oakham AMCA club had done with watering all day Saturday, this allowed the day to run smoothly with all entered being able to complete the 23 race schedule with very little dust.

In the Sidecar races a hat-trick of wins for the Essex based outfit of Shaun Mallows and Colin Dunkley gave them the Overall. Second overall went to the Mike Holloway and Ian Lawrence on the Wasp machine with Third Overall going to the pairing of Terry Bacon and Steve Nunn.

In the Pre-60 class Jim Aim and Dave Godley both won two legs each however the overall went to Godley. Second overall went to Jim Aim with Richard Aris rounding out the top three.

The Pre-65 class was a mix of up to 250cc machines racing against the over 350cc machines with the overall going to Adrian Coppen with two straight wins. A fourth and second place secured second overall for Jim Aim with local rider Andy Nourish taking third overall.

The Pre-74 class saw Andy Camm taking two victories and the overall result, Graham Cooper opted to ride the AJS in this class and two solid rides saw him take second overall, with Kim Morley on a immaculate looking 380cc Greeves Griffon rounding out the top three.

Most of the regular Brockwell Group National Greeves Championship riders made the trip up the A1 to support the championship at Sproxton. The reining Greeves Champion Greg Radley showed the rest just why he is the champion taking three wins from four and a ride from last place to fourth in the other race secured him the Overall victory. Fourth race winner Matt Valentine took second overall with Graham Cooper having four solid rides to take third overall.

In the Allcomers Final it was another victory for Andy Camm with Greg Radley taking the Greeves Griffon to second place, third and fourth places went to Pat Aldridge and Kim Barker with Andy Nourish rounding out the top five.
